The Travel Diary: Charlotte, NC

I was lucky enough to get some time away for Labor Day Weekend and went up to Charlotte, NC for a few days to visit with Lindsey and Nova. Any time we have together is precious, and I was so happy to finally hold Little Miss Nova in my arms!

Workouts are always a challenge when I travel. Whether I sleep in too long, or overindulge at the continental breakfast (Hampton Inn's hot breakfast spread is always so tempting), I never seem to make the gym as I planned. This time, I made my workout my priority- and that in itself is a small victory!

While The Hampton Inn in Uptown Charlotte had a fantastic fitness room (and an indoor pool that I will have to remember next time), I opted for a jog around the Queen City to see what I could see. Cardio has never been my friend so a few short blocks serves as a sufficient warm up at this point, so I was glad when I stumbled upon a set of stairs at the Time Warner Arena, Home of the Charlotte Hornets. I've done a lot of boot camps and worked with trainers outside, so I called upon that experience and came up with my own impromptu routine using the fixtures available. I was able to come up with a full body routine using the stairs, and a box/bench that was in the area.
I surprised myself with just how many exercises I could come up with! I guess its just one of those things- you never know until you try! What is your favorite impromptu workout when you travel?
XO,
Hattie
